I have no idea what to do as a dad.
And the main reason is because I never had a dad.
What I had instead.
Was a gap.
Eyes Closed Shut.
I am mindful of this gap.
And what I mean by that.
Is that I think about the gap.
I think about and try to imagine what advice a dad might have given me about becoming a dad myself.
I think about and try to imagine what experiences that I might have had with a dad.
Experiences that would guide me once I myself became one.
And I have to say that the thinking and the imagining does have some merit.
As I picture things.
Eyes closed shut.
With a smile on my face.
Dads.
Michael Jordan’s dad.
According to Michael Jordan.
(And let’s face it.
A son or daughter’s description of a dad is the most important of all in many ways).
Was:
He was the voice of reason.
He drove me.
He challenged me.
And these few words are useful to me, actually.
As I try to learn.
About dadness.
My dadness.
Mind The Gap.
I have no idea what to do as a dad.
And the main reason is because I never had a dad.
What I had instead.
Was a gap.
But I have come to realise that wherever I have a gap.
There is an opportunity.
There is an opportunity to put my imagination to work.
To imagine anything I like.
And I do believe that if I imagine it.
Eyes closed shut.
With a smile on my face.
I can be it.
